Do you add refrigerant to the high or low side?

For systems under a vacuum, once the desired vacuum level has been reached, the vacuum pump has been isolated from the system, and no leaks exist, always charge liquid refrigerant in the high side of the system until high- and low-side pressures equalize and liquid stops flowing.

Which side is the high pressure AC line?

The high side, or discharge line, will be the line connected to the compressor from the bottom or lower position. It will not be wrapped in insulation and will be warm to the touch. This is where freon exits the compressor as a liquid.

Does the low side take the freon?

The suction (low) side will start to draw the refrigerant in. The compressor will normally cycle on/off rapidly at first until the charge is increased, staying on longer as you come closer to a complete charge.

Can I charge AC through high side?

@engineercyprus You can both use it to check the high side pressures, both static and running, and to charge refrigerant, but you'll be able to charge refrigerant through the high side service port only with the compressor off, after vacuuming the system (if you don't vacuum, refrigerant won't get pulled inside).

What happens if you put freon in high pressure port?

If you hook up to the wrong port the compressor can push refrigerant into the R134a canister under high enough pressure to cause it to burst. You always need to connect the canister to the LOW side. This way the compressor draws in the refrigerant. Refrigerant can spray out if the fitting is not connected properly.

What side do you put Freon in on a car?

The freon is added on the LOW PRESSURE SIDE ONLY. The hose tool you bought is made so you can only hook to the low side as the high side and low side fittings are different sizes and shapes for SAFETY'S SAKE.

Where do u put Freon in a car?

Where is the fill port? For most vehicles, the low pressure side fill port is located on the left side of the engine bay. It will often be a small section of metal pipe that has two lengths of rubber hose coming off either end. Look to the back of the engine bay called the firewall.

What do I do if my AC isnt blowing cold air?

Try cleaning your air conditioner's filter and the coils to see if improving the airflow fixes the problem. If there is ice buildup, you'll need to run the unit with just the fan in order to melt it off. If that doesn't get the unit blowing cold air again, it could be refrigerant levels are low (see below).

What is high side and low side in AC?

HIGH SIDE - Same as head pressure; side of system which includes vapor into condenser and liquid to expansion valve. (Also see Low Side.) HOT GAS BYPASS LINE - Line connecting compressor outlet to evaporator inlet.

What is low side and high side in HVAC?

The high pressure side is the discharge side. It runs from the compressor outlet to the meterin device inlet. The low pressure side is the vaccum side. It runs from the metering device outlet to the compressor inlet.

Why is my low side AC pressure high?

In this situation, where the high-pressure side of the AC is too low, and the low side pressure is too high, the problem is probably compressor-related. It could also be related to the AC pressure switch, the expansion valve, the evaporator, or the dryer. There could also be a leak in the AC system.
